If you haven't already, please register over there, and be sure to select the game(s) you are playing (either/both LOTRO and SWTOR).
If you have already, GREAT! - But be sure to then update your own profile there. Add your Characters from Lotro (all your alts), just got through option by option and complete as much as you can.
Appreciated it will seem like a big ask, but once this is done it is done. The reasons for the change are pretty much explained in the above link (first line).
When is this happening?
As of Wednesday 15th February - and during the course of this week. Then, as of 20th Feb (next Monday) this site will be non-used. We will be only using the new one as our primary.
What happens to this site and all its content from over the years??
The site here wont go anywhere. It will still exist here (unless something drastic happens to the provider, Shivtr).
The posts and threads, images, and so on will still remain.
The site will just be set as a "Non-Premium" package, and will revert to a "Free" state - which will be seriously limited.
What can I do about the threads and images I have have here, can I move them over?
You can, but there is no "magic" script that will allow us to do so. So it will need to be done manually.
For forum threads YOU created, you can in fact EDIT yours and copy the content over in to a new thread over on the new.
Images you uploaded to this site, and used within those threads, will work. Just be sure to remove the bits after the ".jpg" or ".jpeg" bit. It will function fine (If you have trouble with this or copying over a thread, let me know!).
Gallery Pictures; you can simply upload again. So the ones on this site, you view them fully, you can then right click that image and "Save as..." and save it to desktop, and from there upload it using the gallery in the new site.
Its completely up to you.
What about members who are dormant, and not able to do this now?!
The plan is to PM this, in game mail it as well as this thread being visible right on the front of our site in public view (So they themselves wont need to be logged in to see this). Then the following:
- The new site becomes main on 20/2/2012.
- This site gets switched down to "Freemium".
- 4 weeks from the 20th Feb, the member list gets cross referenced to the ingame list. IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO ADD ALL YOUR ALT CHARACTERS IN TO YOUR PROFILE ON THE NEW SITE AND ADD PLAYER NOTES TO YOUR IN GAME ONE!!
- Those that have moved with us by the end of the above 4 weeks we know are "with us". Those that are not will be downgraded to "Recruit" in game.
- 8 weeks from the 20th Feb, and if those on recruit status still are not showing as moved over with us, will be removed from the kin in lotro. Prior to which another kin mail will be sent - just in case they turn up sometime after and wonder "WTF?!"
So we will be quite generous with the chances offered over the period of time above. Plus as this site is not being switched off, the information will still be on hand for those that float on to the site or come streight here following a "WTF" moment in game...
