Cant logo onto Lotro at the moment keep on getting this error:-

The underlying Connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved

Anyone have any ideas, as I pretty stumped.

How weird.

Looking at the replies in that thread, a lot of them have resolved it temporarily by having the lotro.com website open at the same time. Perhaps try the same but with the CM lotro webpage open - and then launch the game too - see if that works.

Very odd indeed.

Sounds like a DNS problem to me, maybe you should try connecting through OpenDNS for a while?

http://www.opendns.com/

They also got a free version.

Liddy had a problem like this (but not the same), and she solved that by just using openDNS for about a month and then switching back.

Thanks for the help guys. It was a problem with my security software. It thought I didn't have an internet connection when I did. It was effecting certain connections to the internet. Could get on some sites but not on others.

I have fixed the issue now. Damn pain though.

ah, glad to hear you solved the issue - I had the same a long time ago and it was indeed my security stuff that was messing things up. All's well that ends well smile

I had that problem last year, ended up having to unistall my security program and using a different one.
